Paul is an external examiner for the University of King's College London and has acted in the same capacity for the Universities of Middlesex and Nottingham Trent. He has trained many environmental health officers and still contributes to professional training by running specialist courses on topics of major public health significance, such as the illegal trade in unfit meat.
He has extensive experience in civil and criminal litigation, particularly in the areas of negligence and due diligence and is a 'Checked' expert witness.
He has investigated many food poisoning incidents, including the largest recorded outbreak of salmonella in the UK, involving 640 cases.
He presented a paper on "Due Diligence" at the First International Conference on Food Safety in Travel and Tourism in Barcelona at the invitation of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
He acts as technical adviser and contributor to television and radio programmes on food safety issues, including Channel 4 'Dispatches', BBC UK's Worst Restaurant, Newsnight and Radio 4.
Paul is also a qualified teacher and has developed syllabuses for professional qualifications.
